Punching above my weight
I pride myself on overdelivering, doing bigger and better work than one person at a desk has any right to. When you work with me, nothing gets passed down a chain and nothing gets lost in translation. I sweat the strategy, I make the thing, and I answer the email. It's me. It's always me.
I am proudly human. From quote decks to moodboards to logos to taglines to mockups, my work comes from my brain, heart, eyes, and hands. Great design comes from deep understanding, the collision of perspectives, and the infinitely complex mess of human experience.
The backstory
It started in high school with a camera. I made videos for fun, bought a serious DSLR, and found out people would pay me for senior portraits. I kept saying yes until I was shooting weddings and filming youth camps, and somewhere in there I picked up the two habits that still carry me: looking closely, and delivering on time.
The work kept growing from there. I edited for a YouTube filmmaker, joined a travel course company on the ground floor and filmed a course in Tokyo, and earned a Creative Technology degree from Illinois State. Then came nonprofit communications, where I led creative for a foster care organization and helped grow its podcast past one million downloads. These days I lead marketing at an agency, managing a team and a handful of client accounts while staying close enough to the work to make things with my own hands.
